Stretching for a Cause – Yoga for PINKtober at Reeth Memorial Hall
This morning, Reeth Memorial Hall was filled with calm energy, laughter, and a wonderful sense of togetherness as the community gathered for a charity yoga session in support of the PINKtober appeal for Cancer Research UK.
The hall, usually home to music, art and local gatherings, took on a softer rhythm today, with yoga mats spread across the polished wooden floor, each one a small island of focus and peace. Participants of all ages came dressed in bright pink, a sea of colour symbolising hope, strength, and unity in the fight against cancer.
As the class began, the early light filtered through the windows, catching on the cheerful PINKtober t-shirts that read “Together we will beat cancer”. The atmosphere was beautifully calm yet full of purpose. Every stretch, every breath, felt like a quiet act of solidarity, a reminder that small gestures, when shared, can make a big difference.
From gentle poses to moments of still reflection, the session flowed with kindness and encouragement. There was laughter too, yoga socks that wouldn’t stay put, wobbly balances, and a shared understanding that perfection wasn’t the point. It was about being there, together, for something bigger than ourselves.
Capturing moments like this through my lens is always a privilege. The images tell a story of community strength, of friends supporting one another, of movement and mindfulness turned into meaningful action. Events like these show exactly what makes Reeth such a special place, a village with heart, compassion, and a knack for rallying around good causes.
All proceeds from the morning went directly to Cancer Research UK’s PINKtober appeal, helping fund life saving research and support for those affected by cancer.
It was a beautiful reminder that even the simplest of acts, rolling out a yoga mat, sharing a smile, wearing a pink t-shirt, can help make a difference.
