Reeth Show 2025 – A Sun-Soaked Celebration of Swaledale Life
The annual Reeth Show is always one of the highlights of the Dales calendar, and this year’s event was no exception. Blessed with glorious sunshine and soaring temperatures, the showground was alive with colour, energy and tradition, a true celebration of Swaledale’s farming heritage, rural skills, and community spirit.
A Showcase of Farming and Country Life
The day began with the ever-popular sheepdog trials, where handlers and dogs worked in harmony to guide their flocks with impressive precision. Around the showground, visitors admired the sheep classes, from sturdy Swaledales to prize-winning rams, each carefully prepared and proudly shown.
Elsewhere, the horticultural marquee was brimming with beautiful displays of vegetables, flowers, and home produce – a vibrant reminder of the skill and dedication of local growers.
Rural Skills on Display
One of the most captivating elements of the show is the dry stone walling competition, a craft that has shaped the Dales landscape for centuries. Competitors worked tirelessly in the heat, piecing together stone with care and strength, much to the admiration of the crowd.
Sport, Spectacle and Tradition
Of course, no Reeth Show would be complete without the fell running – a true test of endurance, speed and determination as runners tackled the rugged Swaledale hills. Against the backdrop of heather and dry-stone walls, the athletes made their way over the tough terrain, cheered on by spectators.
From children’s entertainment to craft stalls, livestock, and traditional displays, the showground was buzzing with life all day long.
A Day to Remember
This year’s Reeth Show 2025 was a scorcher, but the sunshine only added to the atmosphere. Families, farmers, locals and visitors alike came together to enjoy everything the show had to offer – from heritage skills and livestock judging to sport and community fun.
I’ve shared just a taste of the day here through my lens, but there are many more photographs from the event that will be shared soon by Reeth Show themselves.
For me, it’s always a privilege to capture these moments – the sweat, smiles, and spirit that make Reeth Show such a cornerstone of Dales life.
