Yorkshire hosted the UCI World Championships in September 2019 with the Elite Men’s road race due to cover much of the route of the 2014 Tour de France stage one that came over Buttertubs and down Swaledale and back over Grinton Moor. We had planned for weeks to position ourselves on Grinton Moor but these plans were soon scuppered when we had torrential rain overnight forcing the organisers to cut 26km from the route which happened to include the two big climbs. So a quick reorganisation and we sped off to Middleham bridge to capture the very wet and mostly miserable looking riders.
